Yeah or Ney?

So I am looking for some thoughts and experiences using OPK's. When we were originally working to get myself pregnant we did all sorts of readings, pros and cons about using OPK's. In the end we decided not to use them.

With all the reading I just felt like using the OPK really left myself open for more stress, interpretation (did I test at the right time, is the line more or less clear, etc). We did do a combination of testing saliva, temperatures, fluid monitoring and the nightly cer.vix check. We felt like this gave us a pretty clear message about timing for us.

But now as we embark upon this new journey, with a new body - the question has arisen again. I have been trying to do some reading and researching about other folks thoughts about using (or not using) OPK's.

Thoughts?

On the other side

For the first time I an standing on the other side.

For years now I have followed many of your stories from afar - and now it is my turn to tell my tale.

And I am now also standing on the other side helping my lovely wife to get pregnant.

My wife and I have been married for almost 5 years - and we have boy/girl twins that are 2.5 years that I was successfully able to carry to almost 36 weeks. Getting pregnant was easy for me, and I relatively enjoyed being pregnant, and today I love being a mom. (one day I'll fill you in on the story of how our duo arrived)

But the idea of having baby number 3?

When the conversations began it started just about do we want another baby - and as the conversation continued the conversation changed to if my wife wanted to be pregnant.

Finally one day she decided - yes she wanted to give it all a go. So begins the journey, the charting the accupuncture, the s.perm banks - all of it. And while the idea of a new baby is exciting - there is a part of me that is sad. Sad that I am not the one that is going to be carrying this baby and left wondering how this will change the dynamics of our family (or will it at all).

Living within a lesbian relationship I have to imagine this is a unique quality to our relationships. Who is going to be pregnant, how does that change the relationship you have with each of those children, and how it alters the roles in our relationship. Many more questions float in my head...

I turn to you - the community that has helped and supported so many through this journey - and respectfully come to the other side. Where I am no longer just an observer, but a participant.

Enjoy the ride.
